CHINESE EARLY CERAMICS

 

NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY CIZHOU WARE DEEP BOWL

 

A deep bowl with narrow upright liprim over curving body with a small lug handle at either side.  The vessel decorated on a fine cream glaze with four sprays of fern-like leaves  in black slip. The interior of the bowl with white slip decoration, the exterior with the slip stopping short of the narrow foot revealing grey stoneware.

CHINESE SONG JIAN WARE TEA BOWL

 

A stoneware tea bowl with indented lip rim, the interior with a persimmon red glaze suffused with brown hare's fur markings.  The exterior similarly decorated.

YUAN/MING DYNASTY LONGQUAN WARE CELADON CENSER

 

 A stoneware celadon censer, the vessel of mythical animal form.  The lid composed of the head and eyes, the base formed as the four legs and body of the animal.

CIZHOU TIGER WITH RIDER

A stoneware model of a Lohan (Pindola) riding a tiger.
The figure decorated in dark brown tones on a cream ground, the tiger decorated in treacle brown tones. All raised on a brown rectangular plinth base.

Two miniature stoneware turquoise dishes, each of shallow form with shaped rims. The exteriors with lobed banding over unglazed bases.

TURQUOISE SAUCER

A stoneware turquoise saucer of shallow six lobed form, moulded in shallow relief with a rudimentary floral design. All covered in a semi translucent turquoise and green glaze. The base glazed.
